the frost…

I’ve said in a previous post just how much I love winter and I think I am being rewarded by the frozen blog gods for this as yesterday was pretty much the coldest day we’ve had in a long, long while… The weather man said low of -6 (think that was more like -8) and high of -2… Oh the joy!! No, seriously… JOY! I love the cold… Only if my house is warm though. My dogs however do not share my love of chilly days.

At 11am yesterday morning it was around -2 and this is what my yard looked like… No, thats not snow – its a serious frost which would have usually cleared by now… Check out the haziness which is usually only reserved for the wee hours of the morning…

The dogs are never exactly thrilled about venturing out into the snow or frost so it took me until 11am to coax them out for their morning wee but when I finally did I discovered literally ten amazing frosted spider webs scattered around the yard in our frosty fruit trees! It was so beautiful and it’s times like this that I wish I was a much, much better photographer so I could really capture it the way it should be…

Here are some of the pictures I managed to capture of the frosted spider webs…

I hope we have a load more days like yesterday this winter so I can learn to capture better photos of it because I think it’s just beautiful.

Until next time…

Very excited to say that I got my ipad in the mail a few days ago! (Which was very exciting as I thought I’d be waiting a month for it…)

I will be doing a full review on it in the next few days along with an M-Edge cover for it kindly supplied by EreadersRus! Check out their stuff at www.ereadersrus.com.au – they have a bunch of e-readers and e-reader accessories…

First impressions of the ipad – love it!! I have a few ‘tasks’ for it before my official review and am very excited to get to it! So far its responsive, natural to use, easy, gorgeous and a whole lot of fun…

Until next time…

winter

Autumn and winter are my two favorite months of the year… I just see so much beauty in the cooler months, especially in the region of NSW where we live… Winters here are usually pretty crazy as our small town population doubles with all of the winter warriors migrating down here for the season… Even though it gets pretty crazy and rowdy here in the cooler months it is just SO beautiful.

The mornings have begun to drop in temperature and frost over. This morning it was minus six at 7am. By 10am the frost was still glistening in the sun so I took this pic in my yard. It’s a leedle out of focus but I need a macro lense… On my Christmas list!!

Love you all!!

OK so some of you may have seen the comment on a previous post with an old friend thinking the post was about her… Because the post wasn’t actually about her and I have a niggling feeling inside of me because she had assumed it was, I guess I’ll reveal what it was really about even though I really didn’t want to. Actually, truth be told there are two things the post was about. One a personal matter I don’t wish to discuss because I am sure (hopefully) in the future things will change in that area (has to do with family, not friends) and one what I’m about to semi tell you all now!

The ‘old shiz’ I was referring to was a reoccurring family matter (which sadly enough my old friend knows all about) and the other babble was about an old project. When I left the company I realised I had spent WAY too much time in my office that I barely remembered what the rest of my house looked like so I went and sat on the couch with my old laptop. I was going through some old things and came across a folder entitled “Novel Ideas’. I opened it excitedly and sure enough there was the messy, weirdly pieced together old quarter finished draft of “untitled”.

Novel writing is something I have always been interested in and have made numerous attempts to write over the years… I started writing “untitled” like three years ago and work on it from time to time but really it was just 20,000 words of ideas, random badly put together sentences and a lot of jumble. I printed off the shabby (ehem, shitty) manuscript and started to read, edit and sift through it all before I got back into it. I worked on it for a week absolutely losing my mind trying to edit it and get my ideas in a better order and not all just clumped out… It was hilarious and terribly written (hence “losing my mind in all the hilarity”)

After a few hours of staring at the hundreds of papers surrounding me on the couch and all over the floor I got up and took the dogs for a walk to clear my head. It was a gorgeous perfect day and it was just getting really cold… I let go of all my frustrations of editing and writing again and just walked with my dogs. When I got home I moved the manuscript aside and rewrote my character studies and did some sketches…. Then I started again.

my view from the craziness

Currently I am in my first edit of my first novel (which is really now just 80,000 words of utter crap I will drive myself insane over editing) but hey, at least I FINISHED IT! (By finished it, I mean there is a beginning, middle and an end. It is far from finished haha).

Photobucket

a few hundred pages of crap hahaha!

I know it will take a few more moths of hard work and dedication to have it all finished and complete but every second has been and will be worth it. I honestly have no idea what will come of my novel but I don’t care… It’s mine and I have fulfilled a goal I have had for a LONG time and I couldn’t be happier! (Actually, I lie. I could be happier – it could be 100% finished, I’d still have all of my hair and my sanity.)

Anyway, there it is… Not a tricky, sneaky blog post about an old friend, but just a plain old uninformative post on an old project which has been dug up and (almost) completed…

Until next time…

PS- No I will not tell you what it’s about… Only 2 people know!!

Oh no, I havent blogged in WAY too long. Actually, I havent been on the computer at all for like a month! (*gasp*)

I am LOVING not being on the computer and finding it SO hard to drag myself back to it as I have been enjoying my life –  my REAL life and have been so super busy with loads of things I have going on at the moment. That and being on the computer and dealing with old shiz just amused me WAY too much! Why does amusement make me wanna run away from the computer you ask? Because I was losing my mind in all of the hilarity!

Aaaanyway, I’m off again, just wanted to make a post to say oops and sorry! Eeek!

OK, I don’t have anything to blog about today!

Random, I know, but I don’t. So why am I actually blogging you ask? Well, why not? I don’t have much else to be doing at this exact moment, plus I haven’t blogged in a few days (*smack*)… But the thing about writing a blog post when you haven’t set out to write about anything in particular is that it may come out a little haphazard and random. Oh well.

I am taking a few days (semi) away from the computer… I’ve had a big couple of weeks and just need to walk away before I sort my shiz out again… The computer has consumed so much of my life for a while now (much to do with work) and since I have no work and no forums at the moment, I don’t have much keeping me here 12 hours per day so it’s nice to so something else for a change. I have been cleaning the house, reading books and most of all, feeling no obligation to sit in front of my best friend “Mr. Putey” for endless hours. I’m loving the break!!

I guess you’re expecting me to tell you why I am no longer with Pink Vanilla Network (PVN for future ref.) … But I’m not going to tell you. Simply because I can’t be assed to explain it all and because its sort of private. (But this is a BLOGGGG! I’m supposed to spill private stuff!!!!) Yeah, well, too bad. But I’d love to hear you’re superhero stories on why YOU think I left PVN lol! (if any of you actually bother, send to brigit@lifeoutloud.com.au and I’ll publish it haha!)

I am considering cutting my hair. I have been thinking about it on and off for around a month now but just cant make a decision. (by “off” I mean to just past my shoulders). My hair is loooong… Not bum length, but over boob length which is pretty long. The last time I cut my hair to my shoulders I was 14 years old. It’s literally taken me this long to grow it out. My hair grows at an inhumanely SLOW rate so cutting my hair off is a big decision as it will probably take the better part of ten years to grow it out again… Eeeek! The usual “it’s just hair, it will grow back” statement does NOT apply to me. I have a lot of thinking and considering to do!!

Anyway, my foot hurts from sitting on it and I have three dogs sitting on my lap so I am going to go and clean my kitchen and read for a while now…

Soooo… As some of you may have noticed, we have made some changes around here! Or, rather, I have… But whatevs.

As I am no longer a part of the pink vanilla network, I’ve moved the blog over here to my own domain. If you’ve opened up the PVN address, you’ve probably still ended up here because there has been a re-direct put in place… BUT you should bookmark the new address (www.lifeoutloud.com.au in case you are too lazy to lift your head and look at the address bar).

This is just a quick post to say hi, welcome to the new domain, the new(ish) look and also apologise for the half complete new blog layout/design/changes/squirrel/whatever and little changes which keep happening. I’ve had a big day and am running late tonight for the friends we have coming around so probably wont be able to finish up the whole new look tonight… But it will all be done tomorrow and be all shiny and new! So if you’ve come here tonight – sorry… If you’re reading this any time in the future I am guessing you’re thinking “she’s MAD!” … And yes, maybe you’re correct… But that’s a whole different story… !!

Anyhoo, have people yelling at me to come out and play so better runzo…

Our Story

0

Posted by Brige | Posted in Random Babble | Posted on 09-04-2010

I have been sitting here pondering and thought I should share the story of how my husband Michael and I met… It’s sort of a weird one but it suits us to a tee!

When I was 12 years old I moved from Sydney to the Snowies with my mum. I did NOT want to move, but obviously had no choice. One winter morning not long after I moved, it was snowing wildly so I was sitting inside by the fire reading and feeling sorry for myself when I hear a voice behind me… “Oi.. Um, where’s your brother?” (by the way, he’s referring to my step brother). I was so shocked and I just looked at him and said “who are you and why are you in my living room?!”

At that moment my step brother walked in with another (similar looking) boy and introduced us all. “Michael and Michael, this is my new sister Brige”. (To make it easier, I’ll call them Mic and Michael – Mic being my (now) husband.)

That day we all had a blast! After the initial shock of meeting them very randomly they asked me if I wanted to go tobogganing with them… I had no way of knowing that they meant EXTREME tobogganing (off our roof and down a giant hill) but I went along. It was seriously fun and that day I made a few great friends.

Over the next few years Mic and I became unreal friends and hung out often. We secretly always sort of liked each other but were always seeing other people and never did anything about it.

When I was 16 I moved back to Sydney and lost contact with Mic completely…

At 19 years old I was sitting in my apartment going through old boxes of photo albums and came across a few pictures of Mic… I was thinking to myself “gee I wonder how I could get in contact with him again?”… It was a small and passing thought as I had to get ready to go out… That was 10th January…

Out in the city with my friends later that night we see a very large bunch of men walking toward us… My mouth absolutely dropped to the floor when I was that Mic was one of them! It was only earlier that I had been thinking of getting in contact with him! Well, that was it… We spoke all night (leaving our friends somewhat unimpressed with us) and eventually parted ways. He said “call me the second you wake up and I’ll come over to hang out”… And I did. And he did. And he never left…

We knew within the first two weeks that this was forever… We fell in love so fast and were talking about our future together almost right away…

We were married on the 23rd August 2008…

In the 5 years we have been together and the 12+ years we have known each other our friendship only gets stronger. We make each other laugh constantly and although we’re supposed to be ‘grown ups’ now, we still act like kids together and occasionally even go back to our roots, doing some form of “extreme” activity…

Happy Birthday Roo!

Posted by Brige | Posted in Random Babble | Posted on 07-04-2010

Happy Birthday to my little Ruby Roo!

I seriously cant believe Ruby is one year old today… She was just the BEST present I have ever received in my entire life and she’s such a huge part of our lives. It’s so hard to believe that so much time has passed and she’s celebrating her first birthday! On the other hand its SO hard to believe that Lilie is five this year and Frankie four! All of our babies are growing up!!!

Ruby is an amazingly smart, happy and funny dog. She has personality plus in a teeny tiney 2kg package! She suffers from “little man syndrome” and ‘yells’ at people often… But the second you pick her up and bring her to their level she hushes right up! She’s so friendly and loving and I just can’t imagine my life without her.

Must run, have a heap more work to do and the weather has gone terrible again (worried about Mic camping tonight!!) and my Iinternet keeps going in and out (grr) Here are some pics from today… And she got a red emu and pink donkey as pressies!
